A young man simply identified as Sola has committed suicide in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Sola was said to have killed himself on Saturday morning after he climbed and jumped down from the peak of a mast belonging to a commercial bank at Sango area in Ibadan. An eyewitness told  Channels Television  at the scene of the incident that the victim who appeared to be deeply troubled was seen naked before the tragedy. According to her, Sola had made an attempt to climb a fence near some shops in the area but was prevented by the traders. He was said to have taken another route through the bank’s premises where he gained access to the mast. She explained that the victim climbed to the top of the mast and was shouting that he wanted to die before he eventually jumped. The Court of Appeal victory of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has sparked celebrations and solidarity rallies by various interest groups on Friday.   The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, General Suleiman Kazaure Friday assured that the federal government will soon increase the allowance paid corps members. Speaking in Abuja during the swearing-in ceremony of 3,022 Batch A corps members into the FCT orientation camp, he said all hope was not lost as the scheme was waiting for the Federal Government to sign the minimum wage into law. Kazaure said, “Allowance for corps members will be considered as soon as the minimum wage increment was sorted. The newly sworn in corps members should conduct themselves properly while in camp and shun drugs.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it can issue a certificate of return to Sen Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) only if the embattled governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola fails to appeal the judgment of the tribunal that sacked him within 21 days. According to Falana, majority of oil block owners "sub-lease them to offshore companies as they lack the fund and the technical expertise to develop the oil and gas industry". F emi falana, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and human rights lawyer, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to renew the licences of oil block owners in the country. In a letter addressed to the President, dated March 20, 2019, Falana commended him for taking the decision to revoke the licences of some oil block owners. The Independent National Commission has said that tracking of materials deployed for elections in the country has come to stay. INEC National Commissioner, Prince Solomon Soyebi, said this at the de-briefing of accredited observers for the 2019 general elections. He said that the commission had developed an application being used to track the movement of its deployed election materials. Soyebi said that the device was used recently in the just conducted elections including Ekiti and Osun governorship elections and “I can confirm that the tracking device is working well. “We are tracking our election materials and the vehicle that are conveying them. The issue of tracking of election materials has come to stay,” Soyebi said. Also speaking, Dr Adekunle Ogunmola denied the claim that some of the ad hoc staff used for the elections were not paid.
