Musician Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, says he has two wives and four children who are all British citizens. He said he is not a criminal and has no idea what the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission found on his laptop. Naira Marley, who claimed to be 28-years old, said apart from storing his songs and music videos, he had never done anything illegal with his laptop. The artiste said this in his statement on oath which he made while in EFCC custody, which was obtained exclusively by The PUNCH. The Oyo State wing of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) today (Monday) commenced an indefinite strike due to delay in payment of salaries of primary school teachers and other requests. The union said the strike became necessary due to the inability of the state government to meet its demands. DAILY POST recalls that NUT had last week, issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Oyo State Government to clear and settle the backlogs of salaries owed its members.  The union, while lamenting over unpaid salaries of primary school teachers, gave the state government 72 hours notice or go on indefinite strike if the situation is not reversed. NUT Chairman, Comrade Z.T Adedoyin and Secretary, Comrade N.M. The Kogi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Oludolapo Ahile, is dead The Assistant Director, Public Relations, Kogi NYSC, Mr Adedapo Tayo, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the coordinator was involved in a ghastly accident alongside her husband on Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia highway, in Nasarawa State. Tayo told NAN that the accident occurred at Lafia axis of the highway at about 2 p.m on Thursday, May 16, after her vehicle somersaulted twice and veered into the bush. Tayo added that the late coordinator and her husband with two other occupants were on their way to Tiv land in Benue for the burial/funeral of her father in-law. He said that the four occupants of the vehicle were rushed to the hospital and it was unfortunate that Mrs Ahile died the early hours of Friday, May 17. Some suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested after unleashing a dog on detectives from EFCC,  Ibadan zonal office, on Wednesday, at Agara area. One of the suspects allegedly instructed the guard to release the dog to attack the men in other to resist arrest, however, the trick failed, as the detectives dislodged the dangerous dog and carried out an extensive search on the apartment before arresting the suspects. Again, out of desperation to conceal useful information that could help the commission in their investigation, one of the suspects smashed his android phone with the intention to destroy the gadget and deny access to the data therein. The attempt equally failed as the operatives took possession of the broken phone and deposited it with the forensic unit for proper analysis of the recovered data. The Federal Government has finally increased the monthly allowance of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from N18, 500 to N30,000. Finance Minister, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja during a press conference where she added that the total sum of N649.434 billion was verified by the ministry as the outstanding balance to be refunded to the state governments.” She said, “The other aspect that should be clear is that there is an increase for the NYSC as well because NYSC, by its Act, is designed that they earn the minimum wage.” “So, NYSC allowance also has to increase to N30, 000. So, I cannot give you projections right now because the negotiations are not yet concluded.”

The evidence against NairaMarley is overwhelming. EFCC has finally reacted to the release of ZlatanIbile and three others, while #NairaMarley remains in custody. On Tuesday night, Zlatan regained his freedom alongside his crew members, Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses and Abubakar Musa.  However, while speaking with PremiumTimes, EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, revealed that the four suspects were only released on administrative bail. According to him: “There is overwhelming evidence against Naira Marley; so we can’t afford to release him on administrative bail like Zlatan and the three others. That Zlatan has been released does not mean they have been discharged and acquitted. Naira Marley is still in our custody and will be charged to court soon and we will make the charges known in an official statement soon.” #Naijavariety

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday until May 21, the trial of a former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, facing N6.9 billion fraud charges. Justice Mojisola Olatoregun stood down the case for one hour to wait for the prosecution counsel, Mr Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), when the case was first called at 1.00p.m. After the court waited for one hour but the prosecutor did not show up, the court adjourned the case for the continuation of trial. Fayose was arraigned on an 11-count charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Oct. 22, 2018, alongside a company, Spotless Investment Ltd. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety in like sum. The EFCC opened its case on Nov. 19, 2018. Gabriel Omonijo, Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has dragged the institution’s management before the National Industrial Court in Akure over his indefinite suspension. Omonijo in a suit filed on April 29 by Funmi Falana and Taiwo Olawanle from Falana and Falana’s Chambers, averred that his indefinite suspension without pay by the university was illegal and violated the provisions of the Trade Union Act. He argued that his suspension did not follow due process as stipulated in the university’s Conditions of Service which was an embodiment of the Acts that established the institution. The union leader said the investigative panel that recommended his suspension to the university was biased based on its prejudiced composition.
