Peter Dada In a bid to further curtail kidnapping incidents in Ondo and Ekiti states, the Nigerian Army has procured some anti-kidnapping drones to fight the hoodlums hiding in the two states. It was gathered that the drones would be employed to search for the hideouts of the criminals in the bushes and forests in the two states. At the launch of the drones in Osi community in Akure, on Friday, the Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade of the Army, Akure, Brig. Gen Zakari Abubakar, said the newly acquired drones would be deployed to flashpoints in the two states. He said that the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Buratai, had directed that kidnapping and other crimes must be eliminated from both states through the use of technology. The commander added that the anti-kidnapping squad earlier formed by the brigade for the two states would make use of the two drones to locate hideouts of the kidnappers. Abiodun Nejo, Ado Ekiti An Ado Ekiti Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a former Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Mr Taye Fasuba, to six months imprisonment over unlawful entry into a land and malicious damage to property. Senior Magistrate Omolola Akosile, in a judgment delivered on Monday, found Fasuba guilty as charged in two of the three counts before the court and sentenced him to six months imprisonment with an option of N20,000 fine on each of the two counts. Police Prosecutor, Insp. Monica Ikebuilo, had told the court that Fasuba, who is former Special Assistant to former Governor Ayodele Fayose on Union Matters, committed the offence on January 14, 2018, at Moferere, Ado Ekiti, in the Ado Ekiti Magisterial District. Ikebuilo had said Fasuba, on the said date “did unlawfully enter into the land which is in actual and peaceable possession of one Catherine Ashowo and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 81 of Criminal Code Cap C 16 ...

67-year-old woman has been arraigned before the Lagos State Magistrate Court at Igbosere, Lagos, for allegedly hacking into a First Bank Plc account and stealing N16.2million. The woman, Wuraola Folashade Oluloye, was arraigned on a five-count charge of fraudulent diversion, was arrested following a complaint from Solomon Akhanolu, Head of the Department of Forensic Auditors of First Bank.  Oluloye pleaded not guilty to the five counts and was granted bail by Folashade Olukoya, the presiding magistrate and the chief magistrate of Igbosere court. She is to raise N500, 000 in bail bond and provide two sureties in like sum.  Oluloye would be remanded in Kirikiri Prison custody until she meets her bail conditions George Nwosu, the prosecution counsel, said Oluloye committed the alleged offences between last October 16 and December 31, at First Bank’s Agidingbi Branch, Lagos. The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made the promise on Monday in Abuja at the presentation of kits with laptops and phones by the European Union (EU) to outstanding corps members who participated in the 2019 Elections. Five Nigerians have been arrested for allegedly raping a lady in the presence of her husband during a robbery operation at Community 25 in Tema, Ghana. The Prampram Divisional Police Command said the suspects were apprehended on Friday, after being on the police wanted list for some time. Confirming the incident, Chief Superintendent Cecilia Arko, Crime Officer of the Prampram Divisional Police Command, revealed that barely a month ago, four among the five suspects attacked a couple at their residence at about 3am. According to her, their inability to give them money led to the raping of the lady, while they filmed it. Nemesis, however, caught up with them, last Thursday, when the victim spotted the suspect who removed his mask before filming the act. She quickly alerted the husband who confronted the suspect. Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Shuaibu Ibrahim, has said the scheme will communicate to corps members when the payment of N30,000 new allowance would take off. The DG stated this during a workshop/ training on Freedom of Information Act for Desk Officers of the NYSC in Abuja. When asked when the payment of N30,000 allowance for corps members would take -off, the DG said: “They will be communicated accordingly, please.” The DG said the workshop was aimed at consolidating on the successes recorded by the scheme regarding the use of the FOIA.
