US Govt discovers El Chapo's drug-smuggling tunnel with underground railway from Mexico to US (photos)

A drug-smuggling tunnel equipped with its own railway and lift has been discovered at the US border with Mexico.The 4,300ft passage which is believed to have been built by El Chapo’s Sinaloa cartel is said to be the longest known illicit underground route into the United States.   The drug-smuggling tunnel which is on average 70ft below ground and almost 6ft high and 2ft wide was reportedly built with a ventilation system, high-voltage power cables, and drainage.According to the Mirror, the tunnel starts in an industrial area of the border city of Tijuana in Mexico, ending in a neighbourhood of San Diego, California. where its entrance was found covered by several sandbags.   It was discovered by authorities in August but has only now been revealed. San Diego customs official Cardell Morant said: “The sophistication and length of this tunnel demonstrates the time-consuming efforts transnational criminal organizations will undertake to facilitate cross-border smu...

3 sentenced to death by hanging for the 2016 Osun Bank robbery that claimed many lives

Justice Jide Falola of Osun State High Court in Ikirun on Thursday sentenced three men, Nuhu Jimoh, David Ndubisi and Oluwaseun Aderibigbe, to death by hanging for bank robbery. Thirty-two people, including two police personnel and two bank workers, were killed during the exchange of gunfire between the robbers and the police during the robbery that occurred on February 12 , 2016, Delivering judgment, Justice Falola found the men guilty of launching coordinated attacks on the First Bank, Union Bank and Skye Bank, situated on the same street in Ikirun in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state and pronounced the death sentence on them.   The judge said the gun recovered from the convicts during the bank robbery be forfeited to the Nigeria Police, while the money recovered from them be forfeited to Osun Government. The convicts were first arraigned on June 29, 2017, on 10 count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, illegal possession of firearms and...

Bishop Oyedepo denied US Visa

The General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide a.k.a Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo was denied visa by the Lagos office of the United States Embassy on Thursday January 30.  Why Bishop Oyedepo was denied a US visa by the embassy wasn't made clear but he was given the standard default explanation of not being qualified for visa renewal and was urged to try again.  Eyewitnesses alleged that the Pastor and businessman created a scene at the facility as he insisted that he has not violated any rules or committed any crime to have warranted being denied a renewal of his visa. When Oyedepo asked his bodyguards to get his phones so he can make some calls, he was reportedly told he can't make calls within the precincts of the visa-issuing section of the embassy. Though Bishop Oyedepo is yet to publicly comment on the incident, ThisDay reported that he told the Embassy's authorities that he has been traveling to th...

Twitter users are sharing their opinions after a Nigerian man flipped the coin on Pastor Adeboye controversial tweet asking one of his married ''sons'' to sack the secretary because he was always excited to see her at work. The clergyman tweeted this two days ago.  Many Nigerians condemned him for giving such an advice to his ''son'' instead of cautioning the son to cultivate sexual discipline. Well, Yinka Ogunnubi asked if it is right for a woman to aslo deny a female housemaid a job or sack her simply because she fears she might seduce her husband. Bishop Emmanuel Esezobor Refutes Fake Miracle Allegations, Issues 7 Day Ultimatum to The Nation Newspaper to Retract Story

'I killed my girlfriend because she left me for wealthy men after my money got finished' - Arrested suspect

A 31-year-old man paraded by the Taraba State Police Command has confessed to killing his girlfriend, Imbajuri Ambisi.  The suspect identified as Munda Bala reportedly conspired with his two friends to kill his girlfriend who they burnt to ashes before burying her in a bush.  The native of Donga Local Government Area who was paraded alongside some ashes and bones of the deceased, blamed the sad act on jealousy and hardship.  He told newsmen;  “I fell in love with Imbajuri Ambisi. She became my girlfriend; I got her pregnant and she delivered a baby boy and killed him after seven months.“This got me angry and I couldn’t tell anyone. Man accused of killing his missing wife 'dies in hospital two days after suicide attempt'

A 52-year-old man who was charged with killing his estranged wife after she went missing has died two days after he attempted suicide.  In a statement by Norm Pattis, the lawyer of Fotis Dulos said his client died just after 5.30pm at Jacobi Medical Center on Thursday in the Bronx, New York.Mr. Pattis said: "Mr. Dulos was tried and convicted in the court of public opinion. Now he has been executed."His attorney added: "We remain committed to demonstrating he did not murder Jennifer."Before his death, the estranged husband of Jennifer Farber Dulos attempted to take his own life inside his garage while awaiting trial for the murder of wife Jennifer Dulos who went missing after dropping her children at school. UNICAL suspends 200-level student caught smoking marijuana on campus

The management of University of Calabar (UNICAL) has suspended a 200-level student of the institution who was caught smoking weed (marijuana) on campus.  The 200-level student of the Department of Physics was identified as Uzoagba Chinaemerem and it was gathered that the incident occurred on  27th November, 2019 in Hall 4 of the institution's Male Hostel,  Uzoagba Chinaemerem will reportedly remain on suspension till the Students' Disciplinary Committee concludes its investigation, as disclosed in a letter dated 17 January, 2020 and signed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Zana Akpagu.  The letter read in parts;  “You are aware that Indian hemp is a prohibited substance on campus. Nigerian Embassy in China still has Jonathan as President on its website nearly 5 years after President Buhari resumed office

56 months after Muhammadu Buhari resumed office as the President of Nigeria, the Nigerian embassy in China which is headed by Ambassador Baba Ahmad Jidda still displays former President Goodluck Jonathan as the President of the country on its website.  Asides displaying Goodluck Jonathan as the President of Nigeria in the 'About Us' section of its website with a URL of 'https://ift.tt/2u5re1i;, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali is also displayed as the "current" Minister of Foreign Affairs on its home page. Man arrested for chaining and torturing his wives in Katsina (photos)

A middle-aged man simply identified as Samaila, has been arrested by men of the Katsina state police command for chaining his wives, Fatima Salisu and Hadiza Musa, and subjecting them to inhumane treatments in his home in Yannadabaiyye village in the Rimi Local Government Area of the state, for over 10 months. According to the police, Samaila's evil deeds came to light when Hadiza's mother paid them a surprise visit. Not meeting with her daughter, Hadiza's mother pleaded to take away a sewing machine she bought for her daughter who isn't using it. Samaila's refusal led to an argument which degenrated into a fight. Hadiza's mother went on to report the assault to the police at the Rimi Police headquarters. The officers immediately went to effect Samaila's arrest. Amazon founder and world’s richest person, Jeff Bezos has raked in $13 Billion to his fortune in just 15 minutes, cementing his position as the world’s richest person further. After an Amazon news release for the fourth quarter revealed that sales went up 21 percent during the holiday quarter on Thursday, the news sent the stock up by about 12% to $2,100 after-hours trading, adding a swift $12.8 billion to Bezos’ fortune in about 15 minutes. At the current price, the Amazon founder traded places with Bill Gates for the title of the richest person in the World in recent months. Buhari lights 'torch of unity' for National Sports Festival (photos)

Eeleven suspected fraudsters have been arrested by operatives of the Enugu Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, January 30th 2020.   One of the fraudster, a female, was arrested at Airport View Estate, Thinkers Corner, Enugu. The arrest, which was the first by the zone in the new year, followed several intelligence report on the ostentatious lifestyles of the suspects.   On the strength of the intelligence, operatives of the Commission, with duly signed search warrant, raided about four building within the same vicinity where they recovered several mobile phones, lap tops, computers, several MTN Sim packs, a Toyota Venza, Mercedes C350, two Lexus Jeeps, one GLK 350 Benz, two ES350 Lexus, a Mustang 455FA car and other incriminating items. Interim investigation revealed that the suspected female fraudster was discovered to have a software in her phone with an instruction and format used in duping gullible indiv...
