The Lagos state government on Friday August 30, intercepted a truck from Jigawa state loaded with 123 persons and 48 motorcycles in Agege area of the South-West state.  The truck was impounded by operatives of the Special Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offenses, after residents of the Lagos community raised an alarm over the manner occupants of the truck conducted themselves.  Yinka Egbeyemi, the Chairman of the Taskforce told newsmen that occupants of the truck were moved to Oshodi for interrogation. According to him, nothing incriminating was found on them apart from their motorcycles.  He said: “While my team was on operation, we got information from the public that some people had entered into Lagos in trailer loaded with over 300 people. A mother of four identified as Mrs Chinasa Odah, has been confirmed dead after a failed abortion in which she bled to death.  The native of Inikiri Effum community in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State bled to death on August 24, at Sudan hospital after taking abortion pills. The 29-year-old lady's pregnancy came off her amorous relationship with a 25-year-old man identified as Monday Mgbada.  The lady's extra-marital affair was uncovered after her husband, Michael Odah rushed her to Sudan Hospital where a doctor confirmed she took abortion pills. Punch reported that Mgbada was arrested by the police after the lady disclosed that he administered the abortion pills which sources said was capable of damaging the deceased's womb.  “Chinasa was bleeding from her private parts. Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey experienced a major security breach affecting his Twitter account  in the late hours of Friday, August 30th, as his account was briefly taken over by a group of hackers known as the Chuckling Squad .  Offensive tweets which include racial slurs, antisemitic messages and at least one Holocaust denial were tweeted out by the hackers in 10 minutes of being in control of Dorsey's account. German champions, Bayern Munich have announced the appointment of former captain Oliver Kahn, returning as a board member next year and as CEO in 2022.   Long-time president Uli Hoeness announced his retirement after almost half a century at the club as a player, general director and president on the same day the Bavarians appointed another successful former player to succeed current CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.   Kahn, nicknamed ‘the Titan’ who won eight league titles between 1994 and 2008 with the Bavarians, signed a five-year contract after the board voted unanimously in favour of the move in Thursday’s meeting.“It is a great honour to initially become a member of the board and then take over the chairman role at Bayern Munich,” the 50-year-old Kahn, a former Germany goalkeeper and captain, said in a statement.  “I am deeply linked with the club that has marked my life considerably.”When Rummenigge’s contract expires on Dec. 31, 2021, Kahn will take over from h...

Traffic gridlock is imminent as the Federal Government is set to shutdown a portion of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for reconstruction starting from Monday, September 2nd, 2019. Motorists commuting the area should begin to plan their route in order to avoid being trapped in traffic. A portion of the road would have been shut earlier this month, but it was postponed because of the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s convention.   The failed portion of about 600 metres stretching from the Kara Cattle Market end inward Berger Bus Stop would be completed by the second week of December.  Director of Highways, South West Federal Ministry of Works, Mr Funso Adebiyi, said on Thursday that the target was to complete that critical portion of the road before Christmas when more people would be travelling.     According to him, by December 15, the road would be opened substantially for the Yuletide season to avoid traffic jam.  He assured that the reconstr...
