Helen Reddy, the Australian singer behind feminist anthem 'I Am Woman' is dead at the age of 78.  She died in Los Angeles on Tuesday September 29 as confirmed in a statement released by her family on Facebook. Her family wrote;   ″It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Reddy, on the afternoon of September 29th 2020 in Los Angeles. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.″   Australian-born Reddy was regarded as a queen of 1970s pop, reigning as the world's top-selling female singer in 1973 and 1974. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced that 187 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in the country on Tuesday September 29.  A breakdown of the new cases across states is as follows; Lagos-74, Plateau-25, Rivers-25, Gombe-19, FCT-19, Osun-10, Kaduna-5, Borno-3, Ogun-2, Katsina-2, Nasarawa-1, Bayelsa-1, Edo-1.  There are now 58,647 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 1,111 deaths have been recorded.  49,937 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.   The post 187 new cases of Coronavirus recorded in Nigeria appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog .

Two staff of Hongao Mining Company Limited have been arraigned in court for removing a seal on the firm’s mining site in the federal capital territory (FCT). LIB reported earlier that officials of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency sealed off the company last week after it found out that it violated Nigeria’s environmental laws and also polluted the water source in the community it is sited in.  The two workers identified as Moses Smart and Ezeilo Stanley were arrested by the police after destroying the seal placed by NESREA officials over the weekend. They were subsequently arraigned before an upper area court in Mpape on Tuesday September 29, on charges of assault and obstruction of public servants in the discharge of their lawful duties.   The post Staff of Chinese company arraigned for removing seal on mining site appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog .

Toni Tone, a writer and a public speaker, has claimed that men hate women who empower other women. She stated that men do not want women to be empowered so that they can be easier to control. She wrote: "Some men hate women who empower other women, because an empowered woman is a woman that is harder to control. "They don’t want women knowing that their body is for them and only them. A formerly overweight man named Rome succeeded in losing 80 pounds in just 10 months without doing anything drastic. According to his fitness coach, he lost the weight by eating a "balanced whole nutritional diet" and undergoing moderate exercise. An American mother and daughter have pleaded guilty in the 2019 murders of five of their family members who they killed because "demons told them" the victims "wanted to die." Shana Decree, 47, and Dominique Decree, 21, will both serve five consecutive life sentences after pleading guilty but mentally ill to five counts of first-degree murder and one count of criminal conspiracy in connection with the killings in Pennsylvania. Between February 23rd and 25th, 2019, police say the mother and daughter killed two of Shana Decree's other children Naa’Irah Smith, 25, and Damon Decree Jr., 13, as well as Shana Decree’s sister, Jamilla Campbell, 42, and Campbell’s 9-year-old twin daughters Imani and Erika Allen.   According to the Sun, the victims' bodies were discovered on the afternoon of Feb. 25, 2019, in a bedroom inside of an apartment on 200 West Bridge Street in Morrisville. A children and youth services caseworker who went to the Decree family home found th...
